Create Your Own Rolling Tool Cart Online

CTech’s New Online Cart Builder Makes Getting Custom Tool Boxes Easier Than Ever

Weston, WI – January 6, 2023: CTech’s new online cart builder is officially live. This first-of-its-kind software allows users to customize CTech’s mobile toolboxescaster, mini, and worktop carts—right online. That means you can create the perfect mechanic’s tool cart for your shop, a heavy-duty pit cart in your team’s branding, or a craftsman’s dream tool chest, all from the comfort of home. So let’s take a look at all the ways you can now customize your rolling tool box or pit cart to make it your own.

Choose Your Template

To get started customizing a cart, simply choose the configurable cart style you’d like to start from that makes the most sense for your needs. Each cart is made from heavy-duty, yet lightweight aluminum and has a high load capacity. So whether you need a tool storage system for your shop’s power tools, a portable toolbox that can tackle any terrain, or a toolbox, tool drawer, and workbenchcombo, you simply can’t go wrong with any style of cart.

The real difference in the cart styles comes down to their maneuverability and options, which slightly differ. Worktop Carts are built on a dedicated chassis and come with a push/pull handle, Mini Carts are the same but in a more compact size for tighter spaces, and Caster Carts come on your choice of fixed and/or swivelcasters. Really any style of CTech cart can be customized to be the perfect fit for mechanics, home improvement enthusiasts, or anyone who needs a portable workspace, it just boils down to choosing the cart that feels best for your needs and space.

Once you’ve chosen a style of configurable cart, you get to completely customize it. But since this process looks a little different for each cart style, we’ll be looking at all the ways you can customize a Caster Cart, a Worktop Cart, and then a Mini Cart so you know which cart might have all the options you’d prefer. But before we get into the options, it’s important to know the exclusive features that you’ll get no matter which cart you choose.

Features You’ll Find on Every CTech Cart

An important thing to understand is that when you start with a configurable cart template, you’re already starting with a high-performance cart. Every CTech cart comes with the exclusive features that set CTech storage solutions apart from the rest, such as…

  • A Heavy-duty Aluminum Build : CTech builds all of its storage systems, from large tool cabinets to compact service carts, with aluminum because it’s extremely durable, yet lightweight. This is important because it can withstand heat, corrosion, and years of abuse while keeping the payload light. This is especially important for carts as they’re quick to get loaded down with heavy equipment and tools. It’s best to prioritize what goes into the cart, rather than the weight of the cart itself.
  • Powdercoat Paint: Powdercoat paint is the ideal choice for storage systems as it’s heat, wear, and chip-resistant. It also looks good, which is important when you’re representing your brand, team, or even just your personal space.
  • Radius Corners: CTech uses signature radius corners on their carts to increase structural integrity and weight capacity while decreasing risky run-ins. When your cart is essentially a rolling tool chest, there’s a lot of potential for run-ins. Radius corners help prevent severe damage. Not to mention it makes the cart’s work surface more accessible and comfortable to use.
  • MotionLatch® Drawers: MotionLatch® drawers are a revolutionary drawer latch technology that changes how people work. The latches stay securely in place, even when the cart is in motion. But as soon as you need to access the contents of your drawer, you just give a simple pull anywhere on the full-length handle. Even a free finger can unlatch a MotionLatch® drawer, so you never have to stop working just to free up your hands for drawer use ever again.
  • Adjust-a-Loc Shelving: As the name implies, Adjust-a-Lov shelving is an adjustable shelving system that can be set and reset as often as needed. That means your storage cabinet/utility cart can change as often as your needs do.
  • Heavy-duty Liners : CTech includes liners for each drawer to protect your tools and keep them in place while you work.

Now that you know all of the incredible features you get with even the most standard cart, let’s take a look at how you can customize each cart style to make it even better for your garage, shop, or trailer.

Caster Cart

Step 1: Customize the Size

Every craftsman, mechanic, and race team has unique needs when it comes to tool storage. CTech’s first step is the ability to determine the dimensions that are best for your specific requirements and workspace. Whether you need a small cart for a limited amount of tools, or a larger cart to store all of your equipment, CTech allows you to choose the size that will work for you.

Step 2: Pick a Powdercoat Color

When you customize your CTech cart using the new cart builder software, you have the option to choose a powder coat paint color that best fits your needs. Powder coat paint is a high-quality finish that is applied to the surface of your cart to provide a durable, long-lasting finish. It is resistant to scratches, chips, and fading, so your cart will continue to look new even after years of use. Powder coat paint also offers a wide range of color options. You can choose from a variety of shades to match your existing tool storage system or to add a touch of personal style to your workspace.

Step 3: Select Additional Options

Top Options

For Caster Carts, you can choose between a fixed, hinged, or inverted top. A fixed top is an unobstructed work surface. A hinged top is a movable lid, hinged on one side and supported by sturdy gas shocks. It doubles as a work surface and also protects the recessed storage tray underneath. The inverted top provides a recessed area to work or place items. This option is great for the temporary storage of tools, parts, and supplies during a task.

Top Surface Options

Choose from a scrubbed aluminum worktop, a painted powdercoat, or a stainless steel option. Stainless Steel is corrosion-resistant and extremely durable, though a little heavy. Scrubbed aluminum is also extremely durable but lighter in weight. CTech’s in-house powder coat finish provides a showroom look and a personalized touch to any cart.

Caster Size

When customizing a Caster Cart, you have three caster types to choose from—4” Colson Casters, 6” HalfAss Casters, or 10” BadAss Casters. CTech’s own HalfAss and BadAss Casters are FlatFree non-pneumatic wheels, an innovative rubber caster wheel style that prevents potential flat tires. And for the 4” casters, polyurethane wheels are used. Both polyurethane caster wheels and rubber caster wheels are extremely durable and adept at taking tight turns in small spaces. Not only are these caster wheels tougher, smoother over rough terrain, and quieter than many leading options, but they’re also stronger. The load capacity for four HalfAss Casters is 1,000 lbs, and for four BadAss Casters, it’s 2000 lbs. This means you can load up your cart with tools or equipment without worrying if your cart can keep up.

Tiedowns

You even get to choose your preference for your cart’s tie-downs. You can choose between D-rings, Billet D-rings, and Mac’s Tiedowns. D-Rings are cast steel construction in a sleek, recessed profile. Billet D-Rings are slightly smaller aluminum D-rings that serve as the ideal anchor point for smaller straps/tie-downs. And then there is the popular Mac’s Tie-Down option. These are from the high-quality Mac Tie Down brand, which offers other compatible straps, tie-downs, and more. Or you can choose to go without if you don’t think you’ll use them and would prefer a sleek, uninterrupted finish.

Steering Options

Here’s where you can choose if you’d like your casters to full swivel or half swivel. Full swivel means all four casters are swivel casts, whereas half swivel means only two are. Half swivel offers stable, predictable movability, and full swivel offers maximum maneuverability for tight spaces.

Handle Options

You can choose if you’d like a push-pull handle on your caster cart or not. Push-pull handles provide a great leverage point for steering. However, those using their carts in tight spaces sometimes like the flat profile of not having a handle. Like all the options, it’s simply a user preference.

Add on a Tool Organization System

Once you get to step four, which is customizing your openings, you can edit your drawers (if you’ve chosen to have them) with a drawer divider system.

Toolgrid

Toolgrid is a revolutionary new way to organize all of your hand tools in your MotionLatch® drawers. This pegboard-like system allows you to easily store and access all of your saws, wrenches, screwdrivers, and other small tools. Simply place the Toolgrid in your MotionLatch® drawer and use the included pegs to secure your tools in place. With Toolgrid, you’ll never have to search through a cluttered drawer for the hammer or screwdriver you need. Instead, all of your tools will be easily visible and within reach of your new work center. Toolgrid for CTech carts is the ultimate solution for compiling all of your tool sets and creating one optimized and portable tool box.

Drawer Dividers

CTech’s new DividerClip system uses adjustable drawer dividers and divider clips, so you can set and reset your drawer as often as needed. The plastic clips also reduce rattling by eliminating any metal-on-metal contact and keep dividers securely in place even in motion.

Worktop Cart

Step 1: Customize the Size

Like the Caster Cart, you can input the dimensions you prefer for your worktop cart in step one.

Step 2: Pick a Powdercoat Color

Next, you choose a color from the ten great options.

Step 3: Select Additional Options

Top Surface Options

With the same options as the Caster Cart, you can choose from sanded, painted, or stainless steel.

Tiedowns

For Worktop Carts, you can choose between standard d-rings, billet rings, or having no tie-downs at all.

Brake Options

Worktop Carts come with the option for hydraulic breaks. These allow you to keep your cart, drawers, and potential work surface super steady, or prevent movement on uneven surfaces.

Handle Options

Choose the handle that’s best suited for how you’ll move your cart around. You can choose between a tee handle or a Heim-joint tee handle, which is a Heim-joint added to the standard tee handle for extra precision.

Add on a Tool Organization System

In step four you can click “Edit Drawers” to add one of two premium drawer organization systems to your cart. You can choose between Toolgrid and CTech’s own drawer dividers. Both systems are new, innovative ways to organize your entire tool bag into an optimized system.

Mini Cart

Step 1: Customize the Size

Unlike the other carts, where you input dimensions, Mini Carts come in either 40” or 67” width options. Simply select the size you’d like.

Number of Openings

If you’ve decided on a mini cart, you get to decide the number of openings you want on your cart. Once you hit “customize,” you’ll be able to choose between a one-opening or a two-opening option. One-opening means one wide bank of drawers or one spacious cabinet. Two-opening means you get to combine drawers with cabinets, drawers with more drawers, or a cabinet with another cabinet. Essentially, you can configure a combo that makes the most sense for your needs. Once you choose your number of openings, you’ll be able to configure the exact type as the last step in the process.

Step 2: Pick a Powdercoat Color

Choose which powder coat color you think is best for your garage, shop, or trailer.

Step 3: Select Additional Options

Top Options

Like with the Caster Cart, you can choose between a fixed, hinged, or inverted top.

Top Surface Options

Choose from a scrubbed aluminum worktop, a painted powder coat, or a stainless steel option.

Tiedowns

With Mini Carts, you get to choose between standard d-rings, billet rings, Mac’s Tie-downs, or to go without.

Handle Options

Like the Worktop Cart, you get to decide if you want a tee handle or a Heim-joint tee handle.
